HIGHRIDGE STREET TO GET SAFER PARKING
A small residential street in Highridge, in south-west Bristol, is set to get safer parking provision as a result of the intervention of local Conservative Councillors.
Geoffrey close, off Highridge Green, is a mixed-tenure street would benefit from additional car-parking as the number of visitors who use motor-vehicles has soared in recent years.
On 2nd December 2011, Bishopsworth Conservative Councillor Richard Eddy met with two members of the Traffic Management Team and two local residents to discuss a scheme funded by Narrow Estate Road Budget monies.
Cllr Eddy and fellow Bishopsworth Councillor Kevin Quartley got the Dundry View Neighbourhood Partnership - which covers Bishopsworth, Hartcliffe and Whitchurch Park Wards - to support the notion of funding a scheme at Geoffrey Close at their December meeting.
Cllr Eddy said: 'Geoffrey Close is one of a number of compact residential areas which would benefit from extra parking being provided.
'Cllr Quartley and I have received regular complaints from residents of Geoffrey Close that they need safer parking locally and I am gratified that the Neighbourhood Partnership has endorsed our bid.
'Approximately four years ago, every household in Geoffrey Close supported a local petition calling for additional car-parking provision to be made via the sacrifice of some under-used grass verges.
'Now Traffic Management officers will consult with local people over this notion and secure their views before any formal proposals come forward.'
